Indian Summer for Ireland

India will travel to Ireland to play three T20 Internationals in a further boost for the sport.

The matches have been pencilled in for Malahide in mid-August, by which time Ireland will hopefully have safely navigated the T20 World Cup qualifiers in Edinburgh the previous month.

It's a huge financial boost for Cricket Ireland who have been counting the pennies before they get a huge financial injection courtesy of ICC next year.

The two sides played two T20I's at Malahide last June where after a comfortable seven wickets win in the first match, India were given a real scare by Heinrich Malan's side before eventually winning by four runs.

The windfall will likely mean their borrowing requirements for 2023 will be greatly reduced.

They, Cricket Scotland and the KNCB have also left a three-week gap at the end of August and start of September for the Euroslam.

While it is hoped that the troubled tournament will finally proceed in 2023, its chances of taking the field at Malahide are rated as 50:50 by one senior figure.
