With its new board in place, Jersey Cricket continues to push beyond the boundary as it targets the world stage.

With new Chairman John Harris at the helm, and following a board restructure which has created several new appointments, Jersey Cricket is setting out to write its next chapter, and build on its extraordinary momentum.

Over the last decade impressive progress has been made both in mass participation and elite levels of the sport on the island, including the men’s T20 team entering the top 25 in world rankings, and the women’s team breaking into the top 40 for the first time. Having recently conducted a wide-ranging consultation with its stakeholders, Jersey Cricket agreed substantial organisational and structural changes to underpin its future ambitions, and help further enhance its global presence in both the men’s and women’s game.

These included the introduction of a two-tier governing structure, separating long-term strategy and vision from the day-to-day operational management of the game, and establishing itself as a limited company. Joining Deputy Chairman John Patterson and CEO Craig Meredith on the board are two new arrivals to Jersey Cricket, Sarah Gomersall and Phil Norman.

The newly established organisation will also seek to draw from the island’s exceptional and diverse talent pool by inviting additional Non-Executive Directors with corporate governance and business administration expertise, to assist the implementation of its new operating and oversight model.

Throughout the organisation there is sense that anything is possible for us now, and we look forward to measuring ourselves against the world’s best, and inviting new players to enjoy this wonderful sport.”

Jersey Cricket’s bold ambition is World Cup qualification within 5 years, in either the 20 or 50 over format of the game. With a busy programme of international events beginning in June with the women’s five game T20 series against France, and a new sponsorship deal due to be unveiled, the health of the game on the island has never looked stronger.
