Jersey Cricket has joined forces with CoachED cricket to deliver online resources to local coaches working to improve the standards of junior club cricket in Jersey.

As part of the My Club My Journey programme, which caters for over 200 junior players on the island, 5 junior club co-ordinators have begun their own journey to progress their expertise ahead of a busy 2021 season.

Paul Kemp (Farmers Caesareans), Elliot Corbel (Old Victorians), Saajid Mohammed (Walkovers), Charlie Le Quelenec (St Ouen Springfield) and James Caunt (Chirpy’s) will work through the CoachED accreditation course to obtain the qualification via online assessments.

The 11-module course will cover technical, tactical, mental and physical aspects of the game including season management, player performance, leadership and captaincy. With access to the online library of 153 sections, 285 videos, info, drills, tips and more it will allow them to work through the course at their own pace.

Jersey Cricket’s Performance and Development Manager Lee Meloy said “the resources available through CoachED will offer on-island coaches a chance to access content managed by World Cup winning coach, Gary Kirsten.”

“We were delighted to provide this opportunity to the coaches who are on the ground every week putting in the work to continue the development of junior cricketers in Jersey. It’s their time and effort that will see club cricket continuing to thrive for many years to come”.

“CoachED is proving to be the perfect solution for many coaches who don’t always get invited to some of the coach education offerings available or who aren’t able to attend the courses being offered. Providing coaches access to all the information they need to coach any team as well as access to some of the best coaches in the world, can only be good for coaches, players and cricket teams. We’re excited to partner with Jersey Cricket and believe this partnership is a progressive move towards investing in their coaches and players.” said Gary Kirsten from CoachED Cricket.
