Ireland Women romped to an 8-wicket win against Papua New Guinea in their warm-up match ahead of the T20 World Cup Qualifiers which get under way on Saturday.

The YMCA teenager has been in scintillating form recently, with T20I half centuries against New Zealand and Bangladesh and carried that into this one-sided contest.

Chasing a modest 107, Lewis hit 9 boundaries in her unbeaten 56 from 40 balls, sharing a second wicket stand of 63 in 39 balls with Clare Shillington, who powered six boundaries in her 25-ball 37.

The Girls in Green secured the win with 8.2 overs to spare to leave them full of confidence going into Saturday's opener against Thailand.

Lucy O'Reilly (2-20), Eimear Richardson (1-17) and skipper Laura Delany (1-23) were the successful bowlers as they restricted a sedate PNG batting unit to 106-4.

As well as Thailand, Ireland will face Scotland and Uganda in Group A of the qualifiers, with the top two going into semi-finals with the winners progressing to the T20 World Cup in the West Indies later this year.
