After two comprehensive defeats in their opening two matches, Bermuda have bounced back today in WCL Division 4 with victory over Jersey.
The big news at the toss - which Jersey won, choosing to field first - was that Kamau Leverock returned to the Bermuda side after being left out of the first two games for disciplinary reasons after a training ground argument. He made an immediate impact, sharing in two 50 plus partnerships for the first two wickets - 52 with Okera Bascome and 56 with Terryn Fray.
The latter partnership ended when Leverock was dismissed for 66 from 43 balls, whilst Fray went on to score 56, Bermuda's second highest score. The rest of the batting line up didn't make a significant contribution though, and they were bowled out for 242, Ben Stevens and Nat Watkins both taking three wickets.
In reply, both Jersey openers were dismissed for single digit scores, as was Jonty Jenner batting at number four. A partnership of 49 between Ben Stevens and Nick Ferraby helped Jersey avoid total collapse, but in general Jersey's batting line-up struggled to get going.
At 147-8, they were looking set for a very low score, but a knock of 30 from Cornelis Bodenstein helped give their total a little more respectability. Dion Stovell was the pick of the Bermuda bowlers with 4-33 as they were bowled out for 184 to lose by 58 runs.
Bermuda will look to carry on their return to form tomorrow when they take on Vanuatu, currently without a win in the tournament. Jersey will play hosts Malaysia.
