Hosts Malaysia are looking well set for promotion as the tournament heads into the first rest day after beating Vanuatu today at the Kinrara Oval in Kuala Lumpur.

Vanuatu captain Andrew Mansale won the toss and put the home side in to bat. The visitors soon made inroads, having Virandeep Singh out for a duck in the second over. Malaysian skipper Anwar Arudin was also dismissed cheaply, making just 16.

Number 3 Ahmed Fiaz followed his fifty on day one with 86 today, finishing as Malaysia's top scorer in their total of 196. The next highest score was Shafiq Sharif's 27 as the home side were bowled out in 43.5 overs.

Vanuatu started their chase a little too slowly, scoring at barely over three runs an over in the early going. They never really managed to kick on either with player-coach Shane Deitz the only batsman to get a start with 46.

Malaysia shared the wickets around, with Muhamad Syahadat, Mohammad Shukri and Syed Aziz all taking two each as Vanuatu were bowled out for 173 to lose by 23 runs.

After tomorrow's rest day, the two teams with two wins will meet on Wednesday as Malaysia take on Denmark. Vanuatu will look to pick up their first win when they play Uganda.
