Scotland and Zimbabwe will both take three points into the Super Six stage after they tied today at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

The home side won the toss and chose to bat first, with Solomon Mire providing the runs at first with 35, sharing in a 64 run third wicket partnership with Brendan Taylor before he was the third man out in the 19th over.

Taylor scored 44 before he was the next man out, whilst the top score for the Zimbabweans was Craig Ervine’s 57. He was one of four wickets for Michael Leask, but the leading Scottish bowler was Safyaan Sharif, who took 5-33 to record his first ODI five wicket haul. The Zimbabwean total was 210.

At 69-4 with Kyle Coetzer and Calum MacLeod both back in the dressing room, it was looking bleak for the visitors before a 76 run fifth wicket partnership between Richie Berrington and George Munsey got them back into the game.

That pair fell in quick succession, Berrington for Scotland’s top score of 47, leaving things to the Scottish tail. Leask and Mark Watt got them close before number 10 Watt fell from the last ball of the 49th over with just two runs needed.

A wide from Blessing Muzarabani brought the scores level before he had Brad Wheal caught behind to secure a tie. Scotland will play their first Super Six match on Thursday against the UAE, whilst Zimbabwe will play their first match on Friday against Ireland.
