Zimbabwe extended their unbeaten record in World Cup Qualifying matches to 26 wins after an 89 run win over Hong Kong secured their place in the Super Six stage.

Hong Kong captain Babar Hayat won the toss and put the hosts into bat at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, with Cephas Zhuwao and Solomon Mire starting their reply with a 53 run opening partnership. The partnership ended when Zhuwao was out lbw to Nadeem Ahmed for 45 from 25 deliveries, bringing Hamilton Masakadza to the crease.

Masakadza took control of the Zimbabwean innings, top scoring with 84 and sharing in a 98 run partnership for the third wicket with Brendan Taylor. The final total for the home team was 263-9 from their 50 overs, with Ehsan Nawaz the pick of Hong Kong's bowlers with 4-57.

Anshuman Rath played almost a lone hand in Hong Kong's reply, scoring 85 of their 174 runs as they were bowled out in 46.5 overs. Sikandar Raza was the leading wicket taker for Zimbabwe with 3-30 from his 10 overs.

The win ensured that Zimbabwe secured one of the three Super Six stage places available for group B alongside Scotland. The two sides will play on Monday, with the winners set to take maximum points through to the next stage and give them a great shot a reaching the World Cup. Hong Kong play Nepal on Monday, with a win securing them their place in the Super Six.
