Afghanistan captain, Asghar Stanikzai will miss the first ten days of the qualifiers after being diagnosed with appendicitis.

He will undergo surgery today in Harare and officials hope he will be back in action for the Super Six phase of the tournament.

Vice-captain Rashid Khan will take over the reins during his absence, and in the process become the youngest ODI skipper in history.

It's been quite an eventful week for Rashid as he became the number one ranked bowler in both T20I and ODI cricket.

Afghanistan meet West Indies and Netherlands in warm-up games on 27th February and 1st March in Harare before they travel to Bulawayo for the group-stage matches.

Their first group game is against Scotland on 4th March.
