The Netherlands have named a strong squad for the crucial qualifiers, but haven't persuaded some top players to return.

It was very much a case of the 'Lord giveth and taketh away' as the 15-man squad was revealed on Saturday.

The good news for the Oranje was confirmation that Ryan ten Doeschate would play in the competition after his recent comeback in Dubai, but that was offset by Tom Cooper and Michael Rippon both declaring themselves unavailable for selection. Logan van Beek is another who misses out, but there is enough quality in the ranks to ensure that they will be among the main countries vying for one of the two slots on offer.

There's no doubt it's a blow to their qualification hopes, but Head Coach Ryan Campbell remains upbeat, and is hoping his team can continue the momentum gained from winning the World Cricket League Championship which earned them the automatic 13th ODI League slot.

“World Cups only come around every four years, this one will be even tougher to get into with only 10 teams involved. I’m so excited to see how our boys will go against quality opposition.

"We are confident after winning in Dubai but in saying that we have also put that behind us, now it’s about performing at a level higher than we ever have before."

The Dutch will spend two weeks at a pre-tournament camp at TUKS in Pretoria, playing Ireland, Scotland and Hong Kong.
