It's been a rough Under-19 World Cup for Namibia. After their predecessors finished 7th in 2016 and earned automatic entry into this tournament, the class of 2018 has fallen way short of that standard. However they have now won a game in the tournament, beating Kenya in the 13th place semi-final today in Lincoln.

Namibian captain Lohan Louwrens won the toss and chose to put Kenya into bat. As they have throughout the tournament, Kenya struggled, with Aman Gandhi's 52 and Aveet Desai's 32 the only scores of note. Petrus Burger was the pick of the Namibian bowlers, taking 5-24 as Kenya were bowled out for 176.

A 56 run opening partnership between Jurgen Linde and Lohan Louwrens started the reply for Namibia, ending when Linde was bowled by Aveet Desai for 30. Louwrens carried on, putting on 119 for the second wicket with Shaun Fouché before he was out for 114, only the second century for Namibia in Under-19 ODIs. He scored the runs from 76 balls.

Fouché and Eben van Wyk then knocked off the remaining runs required to secure an eight wicket win with 13 overs to spare. Namibia will now play Ireland in the 13th place play-off on Saturday, whilst Kenya will face Papua New Guinea in the 15th place play-off, also on Saturday.
