After a 10 wicket defeat against Zimbabwe in their opening match of the tournament, it was another rough day for the Papua New Guinea side, this time against India.
Indian captain Prithvi Shaw won the toss and chose to bowl first. Papua New Guinea struggled against the more experienced Indian bowling attack, with only three batsmen reaching double figures as they were bowled out for just 64. Anukul Roy was the pick of the bowlers with 5-14.
India had no trouble chasing down their target, with skipper Shaw clubbing 57 from 39 balls to help secure the 10 wicket win in just eight overs, meaning the game was over before the scheduled close of the first innings.
Both teams will be in action again on Friday when Papua New Guinea play Australia and India play Zimbabwe.
