After a sodden start, Ireland's U19 cricketers will be hoping to finally get on the pitch this week when they play their two official warm-up matches in Christchurch.
Both scheduled matches against an Auckland Development XI were washed out with not a ball bowled across the two days.
The players made the best of a frustrating 48 hours with gym work and a white water rafting team building exercise, but they will be desperately keen to play cricket this week.
The Irish face England on Monday night (10:30pm Irish time), followed by a clash with Canada on Wednesday night at the same time.
The tournament proper gets under way next Saturday with Ireland's first game in Group D on Sunday, when they face Sri Lanka.
