Mark Adair has become the latest Irish player to be released by an English county.

The 21 year-old Warwickshire bowling all-rounder was let go by the Bears earlier this week after an injury blighted career.

Adair signed a two-year professional contract with Warwickshire in 2016 after a number of summer and Academy contracts with the county since 2012, but a series of injuries limited the talented Belfast born player appearances for the county.

He played two first-class games taking just the one wicket - that of Marcus Trescothick - but averaged 66.00 with the bat, making a highest score of 32.

He was more successful with the ball in T20 cricket, where he developed a reputation as a specialist, taking 5 wickets at 17.20 in six games. He also appeared three times in List-A games.

Adair started his club career with Holywood before switching to CSNI, and has also represented the Northern Knights inbetween his injuries and Warwickshire commitments.

He was named in the Ireland squad for the five-match series against Afghanistan in 2016, but was forced to withdraw through injury.

Following his release, Adair tweeted: "The next chapter begins. Thank you to all that have helped me in Birmingham. See you soon Belfast."
