SCOTLAND will square up to West Indies legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul at cricket’s prime venue today.

Chanderpaul, who rattled up almost 12,000 Test runs will line-up for MCC in a 50-50 challenge match with Kyle Coetzer’s troops at Lord’s.

Scots coach Grant Bradburn says the encounter is valuable as part of the build up to the series with Papua New Guinea in October, when World Cricket League and Intercontinental Cup points are up for grabs.

He declared: “Appearing at Lords is a huge honour for every player and it is a real privilege for our guys.

“We are keen to repeat the strong performances that brought us wins against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe earlier in the summer.

“Then we head for PNG for a string of very important fixtures.”

Braeburn’s squad is a blend of youth and experience. featuring uncapped trio Scott Cameron, Mitchell Rao and Michael English.

Chanderpaul is currently playing for Lancashire.

Also in the MCC side is New Zealand opener Jeet Raval.

Coetzer will captain Scotland, with Michael Leask and Stuart Whittingham being released by Somerset and Sussex respectively.
