No team has yet been confirmed as being promoted or relegated, but the final table for Division 3 of the World Cricket League is starting to take shape on the second rest day, with Canada and Oman best placed for the promotion spots.

The latest edition of international cricket's oldest rivalry took place at the Kyambogo Oval in Kampala, with Canada batting first after USA captain Steven Taylor won the toss. Their innings started with the opening pairing of Bhavindu Adhihetty and Nitish Kumar putting on 74 before Kumar was dismissed for 30.

Adhihetty went on to score 67 and shared in a 64 run third wicket partnership with Dhanuka Pathirana, who was Canada's top scorer with 87. Mrunai Patel was the pick of the USA bowlers with 3-35 as Canada made 256-8 from their 50 overs.

In reply, the USA lost both openers cheaply before a 54 run third wicket partnership between Ibrahim Khaleel and Camilus Alexander started to turn their reply around. Three quick wickets then had the USA on the back foot on 61-5, and they couldn't turn things around from there.

Rizwan Cheema led the way with the ball by taking 3-31 as the USA were bowled out for 160 to lose by 96 runs. Results elsewhere meant that this ended their hopes for promotion and eventual qualification for the 2019 World Cup, a target that the ICC had apparently thought possible.

At the Entebbe Oval, Oman - who started this cycle in Division 5 - gave themselves a good chance at a third consecutive promotion with a win over Singapore. Oman captain Sultan Ahmed won the toss and put his opponents into bat, who were only able to score 100 as Bilal Khan took 5-19.

Both Omani openers fell for ducks, but Oman managed to complete a five wicket win in less than half their allotted overs. Singapore still have a mathematical chance at promotion, but it will require a big win over Canada tomorrow.

The hosts took on Malaysia at the Lugogo Oval, with home skipper Davis Arinaitwe putting the Malaysians into bat after he won the toss. Shafiq Sharif top scored for them with 58 in their total of 189. Frank Nsubuga was the pick of their bowlers with 4-43.

Uganda lost wickets early on in their reply, but a fine unbeaten century from Mohammed Irfan secured them a four wicket win in 36.2 overs. Irfan scored 108 from just 71 balls for the tournament's second century.

Wins for Canada and Oman against Singapore and Malaysia respectively will secure them promotion. The USA will take on Uganda in the day's other match, needing a win to avoid relegation.
