After a rather abject batting display in the first match on Saturday, Nepal have bounced back in today's second of two World Cricket League Championship matches.

Stand in Nepal captain Gyanendra Malla won the toss and put Kenya in to bat. The visitors lost their first two wickets with just 14 on the board, but recovered with a 79 run partnership for the third wicket between Irfan Karim and Collins Obuya, the partnership ending when the latter was out for 48.

Karim was out soon afterwards for 38, but the only other Kenyan batsmen to pass 20 was skipper Rakep Patel with 21. Sharad Vesawkar was the pick of the Nepal bowlers with 4-28 as Kenya were bowled out for 155.

Like Kenya, Nepal lost their first two wickets cheaply, also finding themselves on 14-2 in the fourth over of their innings. Their third wicket partnership was more substantial though, with Malla and Dipendra Airee putting on 111 before Airee was out for 62.

No more wickets were lost as the Nepal captain and Shared Vesawkar took the home team to a seven wicket win with 19.4 overs still remaining. Malla finished the innings unbeaten on 64.

The series being squared 1-1 leaves both teams outside of the top four of the WCLC, with that top four set to qualify for the World Cup Qualifier under the plans currently announced by the ICC. The remaining four teams will play in the next World Cricket League Division 2 tournament.

The next set of fixtures in the WCLC will see the UAE host Papua New Guinea for two ODIs at the start of April. Nepal's next tournament matches will be away to Hong Kong, whilst Kenya are set to host the Netherlands.
