Former Scotland and England international Dougie Brown has been appointed coach of the UAE.

The 47 year-old takes over from interim appointment Owais Shah, who along with Paul Franks has filled in following the departure of Aaqib Javed.

Brown had left Warwickshire last October after 27 years' service to the club, as both player and coach.

He had led the Bears from January 2013, succeeding Ashley Giles, and under his guidance the county won two trophies, the T20 Blast in 2014 and One-Day Cup last year.

However in a down-turn Warwickshire only avoided relegation in their final Championship game of 2016.

Following a barren run of form in the past few years, UAE showed promising signs this week with ODI victories against Hong Kong and Scotland.
