Father and son Tony and Harry Carlyon both played as Jersey beat Italy in the 5th/6th place play-off game.

An injury crisis saw Tony take the nail out of his boots at the age of 46 - five years after his last game for the island, and eight years following his final WCL appearance in Tanzania.

Son Harry at age 15 became the youngest international representative for Jersey earlier in the week, and both played their part in the win.

Harry made 32 as he and skipper Peter Gough (65) sahred a 100 opening stand after winning the toss.

Wayne Harris (30) and Jonty Jenner (21) kept the momentum going but it was Corey Bisson whose late assualt got Jersey up to 250 for 6.

Man of the Match Bisson thumped 7 fours and one maximum to make an unbeaten 63 from 47 balls.

The appearance of Mick Jagger at the ground lifted everyone and added excitement to what is usually a pretty futile final day with all the promotion/relegation issues already decided.

Yet another injury saw Peter Gough unable to take the field with Chuggy Perchard stepping into the breech.

The extra responsibility proved inspiring for Perchard who took 4 for 22 as Itlay were dismissed for 208.

Elliot Miles (3-45) and Rob McBey (2-46) were the other wicket takers.

Carlyon senior bowled seven overs of medium pace conceding just 24 runs.

Jersey and Italy will meet again in Division Five when fellow Europeans Guernsey will also be in the mix.
