Namibia have been heavily beaten by England today in Fatullah as the ranking play-offs for the Under-19 World Cup continued.
Namibian captain Zane Green won the toss and chose to put England in to bat after hazy conditions had reduced the match to 48 overs. They lost Dan Lawrence early on, before Tom Moores (son of former England coach Peter) and the in-form Jack Burnham put on 170 for the second wicket.
The partnership ended when Moores - playing his first game of the tournament - was bowled by Fritz Coetzee for 85. Burnham went on to bring up his third century of the tournament, scoring 109 before he was out. The final total for England was 286-9.
Only three batsman were able to reach double figures for Namibia as they were bowled out for just 83. Mason Crane was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for just three runs.
England will now play the fifth place play-off against Pakistan on Friday, whilst Namibia will play the seventh place play-off against Nepal tomorrow.
That seventh place play-off will also decide which of three associates in the top 10 of this event will join the top six, the three full members that failed to reach the quarter finals and a team that didn't even play this tournament in the 2018 Under-19 World Cup as part of the ICC's fair and meritocratic pathway to that event.
