Nepal have lost to Pakistan in the fifth place play-off semi-final of the Under-19 World Cup today in Fatullah.

Nepal won the toss and chose to bowl first, and soon had Pakistan on the back foot with openers Mohammad Umar and Gauhar Hafeez both out for ducks early on. Hasan Khan was out in the 14th over with the score on 30, and Nepal were looking like potentially securing another famous victory.

It wasn't to be though as Pakistan fought back, Saif Badar and Hasan Mohsin putting on 189 for the fourth wicket before Badar was out for 88. Mohsin went on to score 117 before he became on of three wickets for Nepal's leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane.

The final Pakistan total was 258-8, a total Nepal should have had a chance at chasing. Unfortunately though, Nepal's upper order collapsed, with the score on 54 when captain Raju Rijal was the seventh man out.

Prem Tamang prevented it from being a complete annihilation for Nepal, scoring an unbeaten 65 before the innings ended. Hasan Mohsin completed a fine all-round performance, taking 4-42 to bowl Nepal out for 136, a 122 run defeat.

Nepal will play the seventh place play-off on Thursday against the loser of tomorrow's Namibia v England match.
