Canada have lost their fourth match of the Under-19 World Cup as they went down to Zimbabwe by six wickets today in Cox's Bazar.
Batting first after winning the toss, Canada lost opener Bhavindu Adhihetty for a golden duck in the first over, and whilst they batted out their overs, never really recovered from that point.
The middle order of Amish Taploo, Abraash Khan and Arslan Khan all scored thirties, but were unable to stay in and make a substantial score. Zimbabwe's bowlers kept the Canadians in check and restricted them to 186-8 from their 50 overs. Jeremy Ives was the pick of those bowlers with 3-30.
Zimbabwe chased down their target quickly as openers Shaun Snyder and Wesley Madhevere put on 89 before Snyder fell for 56 in the 11th over. Jeremy Ives was the next highest scorer, completing a fine all round performance with an unbeaten 43.
Zimbabwe completed their six wicket win with 18.2 overs to secure a place in the plate semi-finals. They will play South Africa on Tuesday, whilst Canada will play Ireland in the 13th place semi-finals on Monday.
