Scotland's cricketers were on the wrong end of a mauling by a clearly wounded South African side.

The Africans took out their frustrations at being knocked out of the competition by Namibia on the beleaguered Scots, as they handed out a ten wicket thrashing.

Scotland were dismissed for just 127, with only Harris Carnegie (29*) and Finlay McCreath (24) offering any semblance of resistance.

In a game of remarkable scorecard similarities, three South African bowlers claimed 2 for 16; Dayyaan Galiem, Wiaan Mulder and Sean Whitehead, while skipper Tony de Zorzi claimed 2 for 20.

The modest total proved no obstacle to South African as they romped to a ten wicket win inside 29 overs.

Openers Liam Smith and Kyle Verrynne both making unbeaten 64's from 87 balls apiece.

Both hit seven boundaries, with Smith in addition clearing the ropes twice.

South Africa now face Ireland in the Plate competition while Scotland take on New Zealand - both games take place on Thursday.
