As one commenter on social media said after the match, one team was playing a fifty over match and the other was playing a Twenty20. Such was the ferocious nature of India's win over Nepal at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.

The match was delayed by fog early on, and reduced to a 48 over match. Indian captain Ishan Kishan won the toss and chose to field first, with Nepal struggling to score quickly throughout their innings. Sandeep Sunar top scored for Nepal with 37 opening the batting.

From 109-7 in the 37th over, Nepal did recover somewhat, with Rajbir Singh and Prem Tamang putting on 37 for the eighth wicket. The partnership ended when Singh was out for 35, and Nepal reached 169-8 from their 48 overs. Avesh Khan was the pick of the bowlers with 3-34.

Nepal then came up against Rishabh Pant in brutal form. He brought up his fifty from just 18 balls - the fastest ever in Under-19 ODIs - and had scored 78 from just 24 balls when Prem Tamang bowled him with the first ball of the tenth over.

He had put on 124 for the opening wicket with Ishan Kishan, who scored 52 at a relatively sedate pace of 40 balls before he was out. India knocked off the required runs after just 18.1 overs to complete a seven wicket win and secure first place in the group.

Nepal will of course join them in the quarter finals though, and their quarter final will be on Friday against the winner of tomorrow's match between Bangladesh and Namibia. India's quarter final is on Saturday against the loser of that match.
