Like the previous two days before it, the third day of Scotland's Intercontinental Cup tie against Hong Kong was abandoned in the face of unseasonably wet weather.
In conditions more suited to a January day in Edinburgh than South East Asia, steady rain and chilly temperatures kept Hong Kong and Scotland off the field for a third consecutive day.
With little improvement expected tomorrow, the prospect of a complete wash-out is looking increasingly inevitable.
In this eventuality, the teams would share the 20 points between them, leaving both well adrift of Ireland and the Netherlands at the top of the table. Winless Scotland currently languish on 13 points from their first innings lead in a similarly rain affected match against Afghanistan, whilst Hong Kong's win over the UAE currently puts them in a three-way tie for 4th place on 20 points.
With the Netherland's win over UAE today taking them to 46 points and Ireland on 40 with a game in hand, the inclement conditions look likely to put a serious dent in both teams' hopes of making the final.
