Hamilton's Pride Evident as Well Drilled Ireland Easily Defeat Scotland
Ireland's New Coach Aaron Hamilton was full of praise for his teams performances so far in the Woman's World T20 Qualifier.
Having now successfully qualified for the World Cup Hamilton thinks there is no reason why this team of players cannot rise the rankings in the Women's game.
He also believes that some of his squad could be given an opportunity to experience the Woman's Big Bash League in Australia, an experience that would surely bring them on big time.
For now he is looking forward to the final of the Tournament where Ireland will surely be tested by a much more experienced and dangerous Bangladesh side.
Barry Chambers: Aaron congratulations, you must be very proud of your team, they looked a very professional and well drilled unit?
Aaron Hamilton: Yes. a professional unit. I am very proud of them. But we've got one more game to go. So we'll see how we go there.
Barry Chambers: And you're not too long in the coaching role. To qualify for a World Cup must be very special?
Aaron Hamilton: Ah yeah it is special. That's what we coach for and that that's what they play for, to play in big tournaments like that. And the Girls have done a great job here this week.
Barry Chambers: You must be delighted by just how comfortable, how comprehensive the wins have been. Ireland have looked like a team with very definite plans, you have stuck to them, and everything has come off?
Aaron Hamilton: Yeah they have stuck to every plan we've spoken about, just about. We've see in the team meeting, and I let the Girls do a lot of the talking, and they come up with what they want to work on, and what they want to do. And they've come out and executed it, every single one of them.
Barry Chambers: And just maybe a word about Lucy O'Reilly, I don't think I've seen her bowl a bad ball all tournament?
Aaron Hamilton: No, she's a gem that one. She does everything I ask. She gets through. She hits good areas on a regular basis. And she's only a pup, so I can't wait until she grows up.
Barry Chambers: There's obviously the opportunity of joining in the Woman's Big Bash League in Australia or training with the squads. Are there any of the Irish in the frame for that?
Aaron Hamilton: You would hope one or two of them for sure. It will be interesting to see how they go, whether they take one from every team. I do think we'll have a couple in the conversation for sure.
Barry Chambers: You've obviously coached in Australia, how does the standard of the Ireland team compare to some of the teams there? Can we get better? Can we match the Australia's and New Zealand's in time?
Aaron Hamilton: Yeah for sure. We've got a really good group here. And a really good group of young kids coming through as well. So there's no reason if they want to do it, that we can go up the rankings, not a problem.
Barry Chambers: Well done. Enjoy the win.
Aaron Hamilton: Thanks mate.
