The selectors have announced their squad of 14 to participate in the 2015 ICC Women's World Twenty20 Qualifier in Thailand, starting on November 28th.
Abbi Aitken will lead her side in their mission to become the latest Scottish cricket team to qualify for a global tournament, following the success of the u19s and men earlier in 2015.
There is plenty of experience in the group with several members of the squad playing in New Zealand last year, while Fiona Urquhart will join up with the squad from Sydney, Australia.
The squad have played in the ECB One Day and T20 tournaments this season, under the alias of the Wildcats, and will be hoping to call on their T20 success, which saw them finish fourth in the Natwest T20 division.
The squad depart for Bangkok on 19th November and will warm up with three matches against China, Ireland and Zimbabwe.
Their first group game of the competition will take place against Papua New Guinea, before facing Bangladesh and Thailand.
The top two from each group will progress to the semi-finals, with the both finalists qualifying for the 2016 ICC Women's World Twenty20 in India.
Kari Carswell, Head Coach and senior player in the team, who continues to play under the name Anderson, said, “The selectors have had to make some of the toughest decisions in recent times to reach our squad of 14, and each and every member of the team should be immensely proud at making the final cut.
We are under no illusions of the magnitude of the task, in conditions not many of us have experienced before. However, if we can execute our skills and replicate some of the hard work that the team have put in over the summer this tournament will help raise the profile of women's cricket in Scotland even further.”
Scotland captain Aitken added, “It is a huge honour to captain this dedicated squad to the global qualifier. We will be going out there looking to perform to the best of our abilities and hope to do our supporters proud.”
