Guernsey and Suriname have secured their places in the semi-finals of WCL6 after both won their second games in Essex yesterday.
Matthew Stokes and James Wilkes-Green managed to avoid repetition of their ducks on the opening day when Guernsey batted first against Botswana. Stokes dominated the opening partnership of 54, with Wilkes-Green the first man out for 7. Stokes shared in a series of big partnerships on his way to a century.
Tim Ravenscroft scored 58, whilst Ben Ferbrache smashed 68 from just 27 balls as Guernsey made their way to 313-5 from their 50 overs. Stokes finished unbeaten on 135, Guernsey's highest score in World Cricket League play.
Botswana didn't get close to their target. Ameer Saiyed top scored with 32 as Botswana were bowled out for 162, losing by 151 runs. Oliver Newey and Tom Nightingale both took three wickets for Guernsey.
In Colchester, Fiji batted first after winning the toss against Suriname. Jokoi Kida top scored for them with 89, but there wasn't much else to write home about for their innings as they were bowled out for 205. Muneshwar Patandin was the pick of the bowlers with 5-33.
Suriname took almost their entire quota of overs to chase down their target, but were never really in trouble. Wasim Akram and Gavin Singh put on 82 for the third wicket, whilst Singh and Sauid Drepaul put on 68 for the fourth wicket as they completed a six wicket win. Akram and Singh both scored 53 themselves.
Unbeaten sides Guernsey and Suriname will play on Thursday after Wednesday's rest day, whilst Fiji and Botswana will play to avoid last place in the group.
