Jersey crushed Nepal by 7 wickets at Malahide today to keep alive their chances of qualification from Group A, and to end Nepal's.

Chasing 106 for victory, quick-fire cameos from Peter Gough (27 from 32 balls), Jonty Jenner (30 from 26 balls), and Corey Bodenstein (27 from 22 balls) saw the Channel Islanders home with 23 balls to spare.

For the Nepalese, who have endured a difficult tournament both on and off the pitch, nobody threatened to take the wickets so desperately needed, and so three economical overs from Shakti Gauchan were probably the highlight of their display in the field.

At 63-3, with Gough and Jenner falling in the same over, Nepal may have sensed an opening, but an unbroken fourth-wicket partnership of 44 between Bodenstein and Ben Stevens guaranteed the points for Jersey.

Earlier in the day Nat Watkins picked up three wickets (conceding only 20) as the Channel Islanders restricted Nepal to just 105.

Only Gyanendra Malla (26 from 33) and Siddhant Lohani (27 from just 16) made it past 20 as the Jersey bowlers conceded only five boundaries and two sixes. Anthony Hawkins-Kay returned impressive figures, taking 2 for 18 from his four overs.

This confident all-round performance from Jersey means that victory over Ireland - who have lost their last two matches - tomorrow should guarantee progress to the tournament play-offs.
