When one of your players scored 90 from 52 balls, you usually expect to win in Twenty20 cricket. But it wasn't to be for Jersey today as they were unable to pick up a second win of the tournament.
Jersey had been put into bat by Namibian captain Nicolaas Scholtz, and that Jenner innings of 90 - the highest of the tournament so far - was really the only highlight of the innings. Nat Watkins scored 27 from 24 balls for the second highest score of the innings.
Bernard Scholtz took 2-21 as Jersey scored 161-4 from their 20 overs. It looked to be a competitive total, but Namibia soon made it look quite the opposite.
Gerrie Snyman was at his fast scoring best as he came out of the blocks firing on all cylinders. Smashing the ball all round - and out of - the ground, he scored 82 from 43 balls before he was the first man out in the 13th over. He dominated a 121 run partnership for the opening wicket with Stephen Baard.
Baard took over the run scoring after Snyman's dismissal, and reached 61 from 44 balls, hitting the winning runs when he edged the ball to the boundary. Namibia had won by nine wickets in just 16.3 overs.
Namibia will be back in action tomorrow when they take on Papua New Guinea in the afternoon at Malahide. Jersey also have one more match, which will be in the morning at Malahide against Nepal.
