A powerful all-round performance from Leinster secured the U-13 interprovincial championship as they beat the North West by 145 runs at Osborne Park today.

Alex Stiles's 65 (made from 104 balls and laced with 10 boundaries) was the rock on which Leinster built their innings of 207-5.

He received solid support from Tom Tector (27 off 38 balls) and then Gavin Hoey, who made the same score from just 21 deliveries.

James Maginnis (16*) and Scott Ruttle (21*) then put on an unbroken stand of 32 in the last four overs to take Leinster past 200.

On a difficult day for the North West bowlers, Stewart MacBeth took 2 for 24 while Stuart Kennedy returned the most economical figures of 7 overs, 1 for 25.

Michael O'Reilly then guaranteed the title for Leinster, reducing the North West to 11 for 5 and recording the incredible figures of 4 for 4 from his five overs.

In fact only Levi Dougherty made it into double figures for the North West, smashing an undefeated 39 from only 33 balls (including eight boundaries) as his side was bowled out for 62 in only the sixteenth over.

Theo Dempsey and Liam Keating, both of Phoenix, both returned figures of 2 for 8 as Leinster deservedly brought home the title.
