Leinster romped to the U-15 interprovincial title at Rush today, defeating the North West by 137 runs to finish a clean sweep in the three-day tournament.

Batting first, the home side amassed 344 for 7 in its fifty overs. Andrew Vincent top-scored with 95 from only 81 balls but there were significant contributions throughout the order.

Batting at three - having come in at number nine the day before - Harry Archer made 63 from 50 balls, while both Rory McGovern and Eoin Barron passed 40.

Only the North West captain Varun Chopra escaped serious punishment, returning the relatively economical figures of 1-43 from his ten overs.

In response, the North West never threatened their target. Max Neville claimed a couple of early wickets to put Leinster on top and although Chopra (43 from 51 balls) and Marcus Poskitt (33 from 46 balls) put on 50 for the third wicket, the North West lost regular wickets thereafter.

Jack MacBeth (35 from 25) and Dylan McElhatton (25 from 32) staged a late rally, but as the required run rate rose, JJ Garth picked up three more wickets - taking his tally to nine in three days - and the North West were dismissed for 207 with more than fifteen overs left spare.

The NCU meanwhile ensured they would finish second in this year's competition, beating the Southern XI by six wickets at North County.

Ballymena's John Glass played another starring role for the NCU, agonizingly falling two runs short of a century as the junior Knights chased down 202 in the forty-fourth over.

Well supported by Jack Carson (36), Glass rescued the NCU from the potentially difficult situation of 53-2, with Jonathan Waite and Harry Warke having fallen early.

Glass was caught at mid-off for 98 when the NCU needed only one more for victory.

The NCU could have been chasing much more than 202: in the thirty-eighth over of their innings, the Southern XI had reached 149-2 with Sanil Gupta and Neil Rock batting nicely.

Yet when Gupta was caught at deep cover for 46 and when Rock was bowled through the gate by Matthew Fleetham for 65, the Southern XI stumbled, with Bradley McNamara and Matthew Foster both picking up three wickets for the NCU.
