The NCU have announced their squad to contest the Under 13 Interprovincials to be held on July 1-3 in the NCU area.
Last year's Championship was shared 3-ways between the NCU, Leinster and the North-West, each side winning 2 of their 3 scheduled fixtures.
The NCU lost to the North-West but defeated long time bogey team Leinster on run-rate in the final fixture when rain curtailed play.
Coach Michael Hingston says of this year's squad, “I'm looking forward to seeing them perform together as a team rather than focus on the individual (in winter nets).”
“They are a great bunch of lads who are relishing the challenge of the inter-pros and building on last year's forward steps.”
Indeed 4 of this year's squad are returnees from last year's team, Archie Johnston, James Humphreys, James Hunter and Reece Malone, and all will be expected to make significant contributions this time around.
Johnston, Hunter and Malone all toured Cape Town earlier this year with the NCU Development Squads as did Oliver Metcalfe and hopes are high in the NCU camp that an outright win is more than possible.
Archie Johnston captains the side and may share wicket-keeping duties with Oliver Metcalfe, the other keeper nominated in the squad of 13.
The squad has plenty of seam bowling options to back up the spearhead of Hunter while off-spin will be provided by Michael Glass and the slow-left-arm of Ethan Hanna.
The full squad selected is as below and will be coached by Michael Hingston and Uel Graham.
