Nepal may have given their fans a bit of a scare towards the end of their run chase, but it was a comfortable victory for them in the end as they moved close to promotion from WCL Division 2 in Windhoek today.

Nepal captain Paras Khadka won the toss and chose to bowl first. They started well, with the dangerous Namibian top four all dismissed within the first 14 overs, with the score on 35. As with yesterday, Sompal Kami and Karan KC were doing the damage early on, but the batting side got back into the game a little once those two were taken off.

Khadka's captaincy was a little on the predictable side as he was making almost the same bowling changes at the same points as he did against Canada yesterday. The formula was obviously effective though, as Namibia were unable to put any big partnership together. They were eventually bowled out five deliveries short of their quota for 142.

Karan was the pick of the Nepali bowlers with 3-12, but it was surprising that after his six over opening spell he wasn't brought back on until the final over with Namibia nine wickets down, especially with Sagar Pun being relatively expensive, going for 23 from his five overs.

Nepal started their run chase steadily, picking up the pace as they got settled. Paras Khadka was again the star, sharing first in a 58 run partnership for the third wicket with Gyanendra Malla, and then in a 41 run partnership for the fourth wicket with Binod Bhandari.

Khadka was the fourth man out having scored 64 from 56 balls. With Nepal looking comfortable, they gave their legions of fans something of a scare as they had a mini-collapse from 126-3 to 139-7. Basant Regmi eventually hit the winning runs with a boundary off Craig Williams though, securing a three wicket win.

Nepal now need a win against Kenya on Friday to be absolutely sure of a top two finish, though even defeat is likely to see them safe given the net run rate situation, barring something spectacular. Namibia are in a similar position, needing a win over Canada to be sure, but with a better net run rate than even Nepal, they can consider themselves also safe.

This World Cricket league Division Two tournament has been anything but predictable though, so nothing can be completely ruled out on Friday.
