Kenya kept their promotion hopes alive with a relatively straightforward five wicket win against Uganda in the all African clash.

Shem Ngoche claimed 4 for 17 as Uganda struggled to a well below par 129 all out , which proved little trouble for Kenya.

The Ugandan opening pair of Arthur Kyobe (24) and Lepono Ndhlovu (14) had shared an opening stand of 44 in 10.3 overs before the introduction of spinner Ngoche produced a dramatic turn of events.

The run out of top scorer Arthur Kyobe (24) by Nelson Odhiambo didn't help the Ugandan cause, and it took 21 apiece from Phillimon Selowa and skipper Frank Nsubuga to take their total over the 100 mark.

The Kenyan stranglehold on the Ugandan batsmen is perfectly exemplified by the fact that Nsubuga's attrititional knock took a painful 89 balls.

The Kenyan top order ensured there was little alarms in a very professional run chase with openers Alex Obanda (32) and Irfan Karim (26) getting the reply off to a solid start.

Narenda Patel (27) batted sensibly, while the vastly experienced Collins Obuya's unbeaten 28 ensured the five wicket win with 16.5 overs to spare.
