Botswana failed to fire again today after losing to Singapore by 55 runs at the Indian Association ground. Having won the toss, Singapore elected to bat and made a solid 245 all out after its allotted 50 overs, with Saad Khan Janjua providing 51 of those runs, a feat that earned him the man-of-the-match award.
Botswana's Taroesh Trivedi had the best match figures of the team with 3-31, claiming the scalps of both the Singapore captain and vice-captain on his way, but the side failed to claim catches and missed important opportunities to dismiss the Singapore side.
Botswana's innings started well with Faisal Rana opening the batting and putting on 53 runs before he was adjudged lbw to Arish Param. The side didn't manage to make too many runs after that with only four of the side making double figures after Rana, and the highest of those being 35 from Shah Zaib Khan.
Singapore's Narender Reddy and Dharmichand Mulewa took three wickets each as Botswana ended up 190 all out after 47.3 overs.
After the game, Singapore captain Chetan Suryawanshi said: 'I'm very happy with today's win and I'm sure we're going to do well tomorrow when we face Bahrain.
'It's going to be a good match because we've both won two games but we have previously played them in an Asian Cricket Council event and both times we beat them convincingly so I'm confident.'
On the other hand, Botswana's captain Omar Ali has some motivation to do after two defeats in a row. He said: 'Obviously, I'm not happy with the way we've performed today, but we have to take some positives from the loss.
'Those positives include the fact that the top order did particularly well today and our bowlers managed to make some good breakthroughs.
'I feel with tomorrow's game against Malaysia, we can definitely put up a fight against them. It's obviously going to be tough, especially since they have come off such a commanding victory over Norway, but I'm not going to let that daunt any of my team.'
