Host Singapore secured victory today over Guernsey on the first day of the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 6 (WCL Div. 6) with a seven-wicket win.

Vice-captain and man of the match, Dharmichand Muwela, took figures of 6-55, including the key wickets of Guernsey's middle order – Jeremy Frith, Stuart Le Prevost and Ross Kneller.

'It's obviously great to start the tournament this way and to secure a first match win, but we must not get ahead of ourselves, we have plenty more matches to play,' said Muwela.

A brave stand from Guernsey's wicketkeeper, Thomas Kimber, still couldn't help the Channel Island from beating its host at the famous Singapore Cricket Club ground. Kimber made 58 runs before being the sixth wicket to fall.

Guernsey captain Stuart Le Prevost said: 'It's not great that we lost today, but we have to pick ourselves and look ahead to our next game, which is against Bahrain, a side we've lost to twice and we don't want to make it three times.'
