Guernsey received a huge boost ahead of the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 6 after defeating Jersey by 21 runs in the annual inter-insular game.

Former Hampshire batsman Lee Savident hit a match-winning 102 not out as Guernsey reached 224-4 off 50 overs.

He received good support from skipper Stuart Le Prevost (41), who had become a father on the eve of the game, and Jeremy Frith (36).

In reply Dean Morrison (78) and Peter Gough (44) gave Jersey a solid start and looked to be favourites for victory, but three wickets from Frith (3-34) inspired a dramatic fightback as Guernsey secured an excellent victory.

Guernsey can join Jersey in the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 5 if it secures a top two finish at Division 6 which begins in Singapore on 29 August.
