Guernsey has chosen a strong squad ahead of Saturday's inter-insular match against Jersey on Saturday.
The game, which forms an important part of Guernsey's preparations for the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 6 in Singapore later this month, is always strongly contested. Guernsey has picked a 13-man squad who are all eligible to play in Division 6, with New Zealand born batter Ian Atchison left out, as he yet to meet the ICC's eligibility criteria, although he could have played in Saturday's game.
‘The inter-insular is a very important game and it's close to our hearts, but we've got a very important tournament coming up in Singapore and I want to give the guys going another test,' said island manager Dave Hearse in an interview with the Guernsey Press.
If Guernsey wins promotion from the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 6, it will join Jersey in Division 5 in Nepal next year.
Both Guernsey and Jersey will also face matches against an Italian A side in the next week as Italy builds its preparations for the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4.
