These are the first batting rankings for 2009. Unfortunately because I require the scorecards to produce accurate rankings they results do not include Ulster Cup matches. However they do include Irish Senior cup matches and are accurate to the 29th of June 2009.
The rankings are based on a par score of 1000 points. If you miss a match for any reason you lose 25 points. However you do not lose points if you play but do not bat. Bonus points are awarded for scoring a fifty or a hundred. Low scores lose you points.
The idea of the system is that you are more likely to gain a positive ranking if you play regularly for your club. Ireland players still score ranking points but lose 25 points each time their club plays without their presence in the team.
If I could get the information needed I could produce rankings for Leinster and North West and I hope to try and get that information in the coming weeks. Although the season is far from finished a certain Mr Strydom is already pulling away from the rest of the field. What a player!
