Uganda coach Ebrahim Mohamed is confident that his side can progress to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Qualifier.

The coach, who played 26 first-class matches in a career that saw him play for Transvaal and Western Province, will oversee the side and will be hoping to use all his experience to inspire his team to the Qualifiers in his native South Africa.

'I have really enjoyed working with the Uganda team and I am really looking forward to going to Argentina.

'I have got all the confidence in the world that we will do very well in the tournament.'

The side spent a month in late 2008 in South Africa playing some tough local opposition, including some provincial sides, and it is hoped the experience will serve them well for Argentina.

A delegation from the Uganda Cricket Association attended the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4 and this scouting mission will provide useful information ahead of what should be a tough opening day clash against Afghanistan.

'Afghanistan seemed to be a good side, with some good fast bowlers, but we picked up some weaknesses as well and will be hoping to capitalize on those things and we are looking forward to playing them first up,' added Ebrahim Mohamed.

The coach is desperate for Uganda to get promoted from the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 3 as he believes it will have a significant impact on the sport and lead to greater funding for cricket in the country.

'It would be one of the greatest things to happen in Ugandan cricket as a lot of promises have been made if we qualify out of Argentina,' he said

'They are really keen on taking on the Development Programme.'
