Afghanistan coach Kabir Khan said he was proud of his team after its win over Hong Kong at the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4 and believed that the win showed a new mental toughness to his side.
Despite being 52-3, chasing a target of 207 to win, Afghanistan won the match with two balls to spare and became the first team to win a match batting second in this tournament.
'I am proud of them. When I did my first interview as coach I said I was working on their mental abilities and this win shows they are very mentally strong and can go through any emotions now, when in the past they used to just break down,' said Khan.
'Hong Kong's players used to think we can't even chase 150 against them and we've proven we can chase more than that.'
Although Mohammad Nabi was named Man of the Match for the second consecutive day, after his 5-32 and a brilliant innings of 70, Khan believed that all of his side deserved credit.
'Everybody is a hero for me in this tournament. The way they are playing is like they are a combined team and they are very nicely gelled together,' said Khan.
