Players and officials from all six teams at the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4 went to the Tanzanian Youth Coalition Youth Centre today in Dar Es Salaam.

The visit was part of the International Cricket Council's partnership with UNAIDS and UNICEF to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS across the cricketing world and reduce stigma around the disease.

The players met with policy officials from the Tanzanian Youth Coalition, who explained the educational work that is carried out with members of the local community, and then observed two sessions on entrepreneurship and project management which were running at the near-by Youth Centre.

Those visiting the centre included Hamisi Abdallah (Tanzania), Simon Jepson (Fiji), Nick Northcote (Italy), Rais Ahmadzai (Afghanistan), Chris Minty (Jersey) and Jawad Ashraf (Hong Kong).

'The important thing that we have taken away from the visit is that these players come from a number of countries and I hope what they have seen and learned from the centre, they will take as a message back to their home countries,' said Humphrey Polepole from the Tanzania Youth Coalition.

'I hope we have showed that in Tanzania we are not sitting back but we are taking the development agenda seriously and empowering young people with the skills they need to run their lives.'
