Joe Scuderi admitted that there were things for his Italian side to work on after losing to Hong Kong at the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Divison 4.
Italy made 164-9, chasing 211 for victory against Hong Kong, in a game that was reduced to 41 overs per side, and Scuderi believes there are some key areas in which his side can improve.
'It's not an ideal start to the event. We started really well in the field but lost our way in the last 14-15 overs when they got hold of us,' said Scuderi, who is coach and captain of the Italian team.
'We want our bowlers to look at bowling in different areas at the end of the innings as we let them get to many runs.'
'Hopefully that will impact on our batting as we won't be chasing such a big total.'
Scuderi also believes his side is still very much in contention to gain a qualifying spot and book a ticket to Argentina for the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 3.
'Losing or winning the first game doesn't lose or win you a tournament.
'I always fancied that they (Hong Kong) would be one of the better teams and we weren't disgraced today.
'There are five important games to be played and tomorrow is a new day.'
