Jersey coach Peter Kirsten admitted he was very frustrated after his side slipped to a 42-run defeat on the opening day of the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4.

His side was 108 all out, chasing 143 for victory against Tanzania, despite having been 69-2 at one stage.

'I am very disappointed. All credit to Tanzania as they knew where they were putting the ball and their fielding was good,' said Kirsten.

'We spoke about all kinds of things that we wanted to do but the boys never put it together.

'At 69-2 you think you're here, so it disappointing to lose the next eight wickets for 30 odd runs – it was embarrassing.'

'You can't always rely on two or three guys to get the runs. What was frustrating was the way some of them got out,' he added.

Jersey will hope to show better form when they face Afghanistan tomorrow, who enjoyed an 80-run win over Fiji.

And fast bowler Hamid Hassan, who took 4-25 as Fiji were bowled out for 52, claimed that Jersey will be under big pressure to try and gain revenge after losing the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 5 final to Afghanistan earlier this year.

'They will be under big pressure as they have lost their first game and we won in Jersey. It's cricket though, so nobody knows what will happen.'
