A Tanzanian Development side defeated Jersey by 8 runs in a warm-up game for the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4.
The side, featuring some of the players who will play for Tanzania against Jersey on Saturday, won the Twenty20 encounter despite having been 60-7 at one stage.
Jersey always looked in contention chasing a target of 101, despite retiring openers Peter Gough and Steve Carlyon who had got off to a solid start, but in the end fell just short despite a belligerent innings from Bobby Minty.
Mat Hague, the captain of Jersey, said that he was pleased by the efforts of his side.
'I was happy with our performance. It was a good opportunity to give all our players a good run out,'said Hague.
'I think we would have been the better team over 50 overs.'
The game also provided Hague with an opportunity for his batsmen to pick up some useful tips on the batting surface.
'The grass is quite long, so there are plenty of opportunities to score two's off the spinners. It is quite hot though, so it is easy to amble through, but you if work hard you will get two runs.'
