Ryan Driver (Photo: CricketEurope/JCB)Ryan Driver believes that his Jersey side needs to get off to a winning start if it is to do well at the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4.

Jersey face hosts Tanzania on the opening day of the tournament in Dar Es Salaam, which begins on 4 October, as teams attempt to take the next step on the road to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

'We're all looking forward to Tanzania. It's going to be a hell of an experience,' said Ryan Driver.

'As ever I think you're going to find Jersey going quietly about our business. The guys are confident, we have no idea what to expect.

'We need to get a good start against Tanzania on the Saturday. I think all the games are going to be tough, but playing the hosts on the opening day will be interesting.'

Driver, who was recently crowned the Player of the Season for Jersey cricket, doesn't agree with claims that Jersey and Italy could be at an advantage given they come into the tournament off the back of a domestic season and have recent experience of competitive cricket.

'It's been a long season – we started training for Division 5 back in February – and there are a few aching limbs,' said Driver, who has played county cricket for Lancashire and Worcestershire.

'We haven't been outside much in the past month because of the weather.'
