Ehsan Latif was the hero of a rain-affected day at the ICC World Cricket League Division 5 (WCL Div. 5) as he helped Germany to a comfortable win over Vanuatu by six wickets.
Opening bowler Latif destroyed the batting order with an excellent display of bowling recording figures of 4-27 as Vanuatu was reduced to 75 all out.
An aggressive innings of 32 from 34-year-old opener Anees Butt, who struck five fours and two sixes, helped Germany to its target in just nine overs as it desperately tried to post a winning score before the rain came.
'It was the first man-of-the-match award I've got in my life and I'm pretty happy about my performance,' said Latif.
'I was just bowling normally and I didn't try any kind of variety. I just bowled normally and put it on the stumps and thankfully I got wickets.'
All other games in the WCL Div. 5 were abandoned due to torrential and persistent rain. They have now been rescheduled to be replayed tomorrow (Sunday) on what had previously been planned as a tournament rest day.
