"I thought it was a very good all round performance which has lifted the spirits in the camp. It's our first win in the competition, and means we're here for another day, with a game against Zimbabwe. Our of aims at the start was to beat a Test nation, and we'll have an opportunity to do that."

He revealed that the decision to move Paul Stirling down the order had been taken yesterday during the net practice, "I had a chat with Paul yesterday, and told him that the slot at four might be good for him to relieve a bit of the pressure that had been building on him. Sometimes when you are short of confidence up the order, you just need to do something different to get back on track."

"I thought he was excellent today. It was a tricky period when he went in, with the two spinners on, but he and James Hall handled it very well, and they had a match winning stand of 137 for us. James Hall has been the player of the tour for me. He's a very mature lad, and easy to deal with. He's a good, clean, crisp hitter off the front foot, and can score a lot of boundaries."

He was clearly delighted at the return to form of Greg Thompson, "There's nobody in the ground more happy for Greg than myself. He's struggled for form a bit up to now, and it wasn't an easy period to be bowling when Trott and Jones were scoring all round the ground. He backed himself, and in a super spell of bowling got rid of both, and went on to get five in total. He turned the ball square, and we're on the same ground against Zimbabwe, which will suit him."

"I thought Britton and Keaveney both did well with the new ball and kept it tight. Britton has been outstanding on this tour, and is a real bonus for us. He bowls back of a length straight,a nd that's our game plan out here, to not give any width. Keaveney bowled sharp today, and they've turned into quite a good new ball pairing."

There was concern however that the middle order hadn't pushed on to make an even more imposing total. "We only scored 47 runs in the last 10 overs, and it was a struggle to score boundaries. Wean very well though between the wickets in that period, particularly Greg Thompson and Graham Mc Donnell. We do lack that sort of impact player down the order, who can come in and crash boundaries. We were probably 20 shy of what we should have scored today but thankfully it wasn't crucial."

Looking ahead to the Zimbabwe clash he said, "We have a few injury concerns but we'll wait and see. James Hall should be okay (damaged thumb), and Gavin Mc Kenna had a bowl today, so might come into contention."
