Ireland beat Denmark in a rain affected match. Denmark won the toss and decided to bowl on a green wicket. They got off to a very promising start with opening bowler Bulow finding the edge of Barr’s bat with the final delivery of the first over. A good catch from the keeper, Ali saw Barr depart for 2. Skipper Ben Wylie was dismissed shortly after scoring 16.

McLoughlin then joined Burns at the crease and together they started to control the game both playing very nice strokes and running well between the wicket. The Danish bowling attack struggled to trouble the two batsmen, with Burns reaching three figures and McLoughlin reaching his fifty and then being dismissed for 65, ending the partnership on 189. Burns finished on 122 not out, a great knock which helped Ireland to 222 off 45 overs.

The Danish batting line up struggled when Ireland’s change bowlers came on. Glenn and Shimmins bowled brilliantly in tandem together to tear through the Danish team. Glenn ending up with figures of 4 for 18 and Shimmins also picked up 3 wickets.

In the afternoon the rain set in and the players had to leave the field and with the rain not stopping the match ended after 18.5 overs. With Ireland winning by 32 runs on run rate.

Guernsey, Jersey, Scotland and the Netherlands were all playing at Doo’ cot Park and both matches were abandoned shortly after the first innings due to rain. They were moved to Wednesday the reserve day but unfortunately both matches were called off without a ball being bowled due to rain. All four teams will receive one point for the no result.
